India is called a subcontinent by itself. It is the most populous country in the world and guarantees very memorable experiences. This includes not only Hindu temples and very old cities, but also colorful sarees, curries, tigers and cricket.

Agra
Agra is world-famous for one of the most beautiful buildings in the world: the Taj Mahal. The completely symmetrical Mausoleum is made of white marble with lots and lots of precious stones built in. If in Agra, don´t forget to visit the red fort as well... Or dine on a roof...
Amritsar
Amritsar is the capital of Punjab and center of the Sikh religion. The city offers several typical Indian buildings, but the Golden Temple is definitely the main attraction. Women may want to go shopping for Punjabi dresses. From here you can also take a funny tour to the Pakistani border...
Bandhavgarh National Park
Bandhavgarh National Park is a national park and Tiger Reserve in India. This park has a large biodiversity. The density of the tiger population (8 tigers per km2) is one of the highest known in India. It also hosts leopards and deer.
Darjeeling
Darjeeling is one of the most remote places in the Indian sub-continent, where it is located between Nepal and Bhutan. The area is known for mountains and tea.
Goa
Capital of the state Goa with many Portuguese and Christian influences.
Haridwar
Haridwar is an ancient city and important Hindu pilgrimage site in North India, where the River Ganges exits the Himalayan foothills. People wash themselves and get blessed in the holy river.
Jaipur
Jaipur is capital of Rajasthan. It takes it's nickname, the Pink City, from pink colored buildings incl. Wind Palace. Nearby is the beautiful Amer/Amber fort/palace, that you could enter on the back of an elephant... Delhi, Agra and Jaipur together form the "Golden Triangle".
Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer is a desert city with high walls similar to a fortress. The picturesque city will leave a permanent impression on you. From here it is easy to organize a camel trip to the desert. Please be aware of cheaters! Rates charged by hotels for tours can be a multitude of what the actual rate is!!! Hotels and private accommodations do not own camels...
Kochi (Cochin)
Kochi (Cochin) is the largest city in Kerala, one of the more modern, most educated states in India. Tourist will like it that most women still wear sarees and punjabis, not jeans. Kathakali dance is interesting, but very very very slow.
Leh
Leh is a small city in the Western Himalayas and one of the destinations if you like to visit Kashmir.
Mumbai
Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, is the economic centre of India and a world-city. There are lots of places to visit including the Gateway To India and Bollywood. If you have some money to spend, stay at the Taj Mahal hotel... a place with tradition...
New Delhi
New Delhi is the capital of India and one of the largest cities in the world. The old city is quite picturesque - as is most of India. Unfortunately Delhi is also the most polluted city in the world and not a safe place for women alone at night...
Shimla
Shimla is the capital and the largest city of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla was as the summer capital of British India and still has many churches. The Kalka–Shimla Railway line is also a major tourist attraction.
Srinagar
Srinagar is the largest city in Jammu and Kashmir. The city is known for its natural environment, gardens, waterfronts, houseboats and traditional Kashmiri handicrafts like Kashmir shawls. Unfortunately the region isn't always peaceful with fights between Indian military and separatists.
Varanasi (Benares)
Varanasi (aka. Benares) is one of the oldest living cities in the world! The city is very much alive and the center of the Hindu religion. People come here to pray, to wash in the river Ganges and to get cremated. For tourists this city is a highlight of any visit to India, but please show respect.
