Payment Providers

The ToursOnTheWeb Software is a complete online booking system and includes several customer payment options. The software currently supports following payment methods:

Invoices
Credit Card (online, offline)
Bank Transfers
Cash

You can setup ToursOnTheWeb to accept multiple methods and work with multiple payment providers at the same time. Your customers can then choose who they are most comfortable with and prefer to use - depending on the payment method. Payment Provider A may be suitable for credit cards in USA/Canada, while B is more common in the rest of the world. Provider C however may have the best conditions for bank transfers...

Note: one of the built-in options is online credit card processing whereas our software connects to an external Payment Provider that validates the credit card and transfers funds from the customer to you, the tour operator or tourism service provider.

There are many payment providers, each with their own specifics like

Extension of brick-and-mortar business (eg. bank) versus web only specialist
Geographical area and languages
Acceptance policy of businesses (domestic only, specific branches excluded?)
Supported currencies for acceptance and remittance
Implementation and technology (flexibility, graphics, integration)
Charges and fees (signup, monthly, annual, per transaction)

If you decide on an ToursOnTheWeb implementation you are probably planning on a long-term web presence. It really makes sense to shop around and select the provider that suits your business best. Better spend a little more time now and save a whole lot more later on. Recurring Fees charged by a Payment Provider are NOT included in a License or Application Service.

Recommendations

PayPal has excellent rates without monthly fee, accepts businesses in the tourism industry and worldwide bookings. Paypal supports US$, GB£, CA$ and EURO. It is very common in the USA/Canada and integrated with EBay.

Enett is a fairly new solution that specialized in Tourism. While shopping around you will notice, that payment providers are reluctant when it concerns online travel bookings (due to cancellations). Enett does not share this concern.

MoneyBookers is a very affordable possibility for accepting bank transfers without technical challenges or startup cost.

Accepting money on the Web

1. Accepting credit card payments in an international environment is a specialized business... Developing this kind of software takes a lot of effort.

2. Making payment over the Internet is the easiest and quickest way to make an online purchase.

3. Customers do not like to give their credit card information to just anyone. Working with an established payment provider builds confidence.

4. In a lot of countries invoices and cash are the preferred payment methods, not credit cards.
