Travel Idea: Travelling Iceland and Greenland

traveler menu

Iceland and Greenland are neighbouring, cold countries located in Northern Europe and North America. It is possible and could be convenient to visit both in one, longer trip covering some of the most amazing natural places in the world for example with a land-tour and a sea cruise.

Goðafoss

Goðafoss

The Godafoss, the waterfall of the Gods, is located just North of Akureyri,

Gullfoss

Gullfoss

Gullfoss means "Golden Waterfall" and it is indeed a great view. One of the nicest waterfalls in Iceland.

Landmannalaugar

Landmannalaugar

Landmannalaugar is at the edge of a large lava field and known for its natural geothermal hot springs, colors and surrounding landscape.

Myvatn

Myvatn

Mývatn (*mosquito lake*) is a small lake situated in an area of active volcanism in the north of Iceland, near Krafla volcano. The lake was created by a large basaltic lava eruption 2300 years ago, and the surrounding landscape is dominated by volcanic landforms, including lava pillars, fumaroles and hot mud pools.

Northeast Greenland National Park

Northeast Greenland National Park

The Northeast Greenland National Park is the world's largest national park with a size of almost 1 million km2.

It has been designated as an international biosphere reserve and is famous for its giant icebergs, huge mountains, tundra landscapes, fjords, musk oxen, polar bears and the best spots in the world to see northern lights. In winter almost nobody lives here.

Reykjavik

Reykjavik

Capital of Iceland, Reykjavik is still a small city. The houses are mostly made of wood and very colorful. The church is the main attraction in a country where nature means everything. You will - of course - be able to bath in one of the natural hot springs and choose to keep your cloth on (or not).

Scoresby Sund

Scoresby Sund

Scoresby Sound is a large fjord system on the eastern coast of Greenland. The main body may be 110 km long, but all its tributaries are up to 400 km long, making this one of the largest (and coldest) fjords in the world.

Skogafoss

Skogafoss

The Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland with a width of 25 metres and a drop of 60 m.

Vatnajökull National Park
