Iran, former Persia, is a large country. Like most of it's neighbours Islam is state religion. Women (incl. tourists) should cover their hair and be dressed decently at all times, even if not Muslim. Iranian people are very, very friendly and like to talk to you, without trying to sell or cheat. Yet women should not travel alone. There is a also beautiful architecture in Isfahan and ancient heritage sites like Shiraz.

Esfahan (aka Isfahan) was the capital of Persia for centuries. It is a large city and known for the beautiful mosques, cathedrals and gardens... If visiting Iran, this place must be on your itinerary.
