Discover the rivers Danube with cities like Budapest, Pecs, Szeged.
Situated in the grand heart of Central Europe, Hungary is a land of architectural opulence, deep history, and a legendary thermal bathing culture. Gaze upon the monumental, neo-Gothic silhouette of the Parliament Building in Budapest, a stunning capital split by the majestic Danube River into historic Buda and energetic Pest. Beyond the famous, mineral-rich waters of the Széchenyi and Gellért thermal baths, discover the rolling vineyards of the Tokaj wine region and the sweeping grasslands of the Great Hungarian Plain (Puszta). Woven together by a rich cultural tapestry of folk art, grand Baroque towns, and hearty goulash traditions, Hungary promises a timeless journey.
DanubeThe River Danube flows from Southern Germany to the Black Sea. It is not only a busy waterway between central and eastern Europe, but also a very romantic river taking you along cities like Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade and Bucharest.

Below are our most visited cities, destinations and national parks in Hungary.
Budapest (163)
Budapest is the capital of Hungary and consists of two cities: Buda and Pest. Cited as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, Budapest's extensive World Heritage Site includes the banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter, Andrássy Avenue, Heroes' Square and the Millennium Underground Railway, the second-oldest metro line in the world.
Vienna (144)
Vienna is a beautiful place to visit and live in. World famous are not only the old buildings, but also the (classical) music festivals and operas, the Schönbrunn castle, Lippizaner horses and "Prater". A concert is a must!
Passau (91)
Passau is also known as the Dreiflüssestadt ("City of Three Rivers") because the Danube is joined there by the Inn from the south and the Ilz from the north. The city exists for more than 2000 years.
Linz (72)
Linz is the third-largest city in Austria, located at the Danube river.
Belgrade (65)
Belgrade, 'White City', is the capital and largest city of Serbia. It was one of the stops of the Orient Express and still serves as a center on the Balkan with river cruises and other touristic attractions.
Regensburg (59)
Munich (52)
München is the 3rd largest city of Germany and a highlight to any visit. It is great to have a beer here, during or outside the "Oktober fest". If you can get tickets, you may want to see Bayern Munich, one of the top clubs in Europe. The Black Forest is nearby for relaxing...
Bucharest (51)
Bucharest is the capital and largest city of Romania. The city's architecture earned it the nicknames of Little Paris or Paris of the East

When is the best time to travel?
Most people travel in the high season, when the schools are closed and the temperatures are the highest. This may make sense for beach vacations with children. But remember that these periods (July and August in Europe + N-America, China & Japan) are by far the busiest. There will be crowds everywhere.
The hottest season has become even hotter and dryer in the past few years due to climate change, sometimes resulting in forest fires. Sometimes temperatures have become unbearable. In extreme cases attractions may close during the hottest times of the day.
Due to seasonal droughts and low water levels, some river cruises may not be able to go everywhere as planned. This may lead to cancellations and itinerary changes for example on the Rhine and Danube.
For the above reasons we highly recommend travelling in the shoulder season, just before or after the peak season. Fewer people travel, temperatures are still nice, accommodations are cheaper and there are no problems with heat or drought. This is the best time to travel!
