Kirguistán es un país sin salida al mar, montañoso y mayoritariamente musulmán en Asia Central. El pico Jengish Chokusu, con 7439 m, es el punto más alto y se considera el pico más septentrional de más de 7000 m del mundo.

Turkmenistán es un país sin salida al mar que bordea el mar Caspio con Ashgabat como su capital. Turkmenistán ha sido ampliamente criticado por los derechos humanos y las elecciones no tan libres. Tiene un paisaje variado con desiertos secos y montañas. Una atracción turística es el cráter de gas Darvaza, que ha estado ardiendo durante décadas.
