La Paz (82)
La Paz ("De Vrede") is op een hoogte van 4071 meter de hoogste hoofdstad ter wereld. Als je vanuit een laag land hierheen vliegt, zul je je eerst moeten aanpassen. La Paz is de thuisbasis van veel inheemse volkeren waarvan de mannen lang haar hebben en de vrouwen grote, ronde rokken en een hoed dragen. Interessant zijn ook de markten die lama-foetussen aanbieden voor religieuze ceremonies.
Salar de Uyuni (70)
Uyuni is de toegangspoort voor toeristen die de grootste zoutvlakten ter wereld bezoeken, de nabijgelegen zoutvlakte van Uyuni (10.000 km2). Dit is een van de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden van Bolivia.

Santa Cruz de la Sierra is het commerciële centrum van Bolivia. Het staat op een hoogte van slechts 400 meter in het Amazonebekken, ten oosten van de Andes.
