Siem Reap is een belangrijke toeristische bestemming in Zuidoost-Azië en dit voor één ding: de tempel Angkor Wat. Het is indrukwekkend. De tempel verkeerde in slechte staat vanwege erosie en het weer, maar is stuk voor stuk herbouwd door Franse archeologen. Houd er rekening mee dat er meer tempels zijn die een bezoek waard zijn, bijvoorbeeld Monkey Temple en Bayon-tempel. In de omgeving is ook een groot meer met een dorp op silts.
