Quito (88)
Quito is de oude hoofdstad van Ecuador en een zeer aangename plek voor toeristen. Er is veel te zien en te doen, waaronder mensen kijken en lokale markten. Quito was een van de eerste steden die op de UNESCO-erfgoedlijst stond!
Galapagos Islands (72)
De Galapagos-eilanden hebben geen equivalent in de wereld. De vulkanische eilanden liggen 1000 km ten westen van Ecuador - met niets daar tussenin. Deze afstand maakte het mogelijk en noodzakelijk voor alle dieren om zich aan te passen aan de barre omstandigheden op de eilanden. Charles Darwin gebruikte dit voor zijn evolutietheorie (die in strijd was met Adam en Eva ...). Vanwege deze afstand wisten die mensen niets over de eilanden en regelmatige bezoeken bestaan slechts voor een paar honderd jaar ... een zeer korte tijd in de geschiedenis van de natuur. Dieren zijn niet bang voor mensen en zitten daar gewoon ... een vreemde ervaring!
Guayaquil (22)
Guayaquil is de grootste stad van Ecuador, de belangrijkste haven en een toegangspoort tot de Galapagos, zowel per vliegtuig als per schip.
Banos (16)
Baños de Agua Santa (beter bekend als Baños) is een belangrijk toeristisch centrum in het oosten van Ecuador. Het staat bekend als de 'Poort naar de Amazone', omdat het de laatste stad is voordat het de jungle in het stroomgebied van de Amazone bereikt.
Cotopaxi (16)
Cotopaxi is een vulkaan in het hart van Ecuador. Met bijna 5900 m een van de hoogste ter wereld. Mogelijk ziet u hier alpaca's en andere kamelen.
Otavalo (10)
Otavalo staat bekend om de kleurrijke markt met lokale mensen en veel souvenirs. Let op zakkenrollers!
Cuenca (1)
Cuenca is een gezellig stadje, net ten zuiden van de vulkanen. De kathedraal is prachtig. Het is ook leuk om de was allemaal bij de rivier te zien liggen.
