Israël is een westers land in het Midden-Oosten, officieel opgericht in 1947. Aan de ene kant is er innovatie en tonnen startups (Tel Aviv). Aan de andere kant is het de afgelopen bijna 2000 jaar het centrum geweest van joodse, islamitische en christelijke religies, met feesten en gevechten. Jezus Christus leefde en stierf in steden als Bethlehem, Nazareth en Jeruzalem. Jeruzalem als hoofdstad is zeer omstreden tussen Israël en Palestina.
De Palestijnse Hamas-groep viel Israël op 7 oktober 2023 vanuit Gaza aan, waarbij 1200 Israëlische burgers en buitenlanders werden vermoord en 250 gijzelaars werden genomen. Israël nam wraak en doodde meer dan 70.000 Palestijnse burgers en Hamas-strijders. Gaza werd volledig verwoest. De vrede is enigszins teruggekeerd, maar de spanningen blijven bestaan. Het is NIET veilig en wordt afgeraden om tot nader order naar Israël te reizen.

Bethlehem (19)
Bethlehem is de geboorteplaats van Jezus Christus en daarom een zeer belangrijke stad in het christendom. Kerst is hier een drukke tijd. Bethlehem ligt in Palestina.
Jeruzalem (19)
Jeruzalem is het religieuze centrum voor joden, christenen en moslims. Het heeft veel plekken om te bezoeken, ga terug in de tijd en bid. Zowel Israël als Palestina beschouwen Jeruzalem als hun hoofdstad. Houd er rekening mee dat het vanwege grensgeschillen ook gewelddadig kan zijn.
Tel Aviv (17)
Tel Aviv is het economische hart van Israël met een grote luchthaven en haven. De meeste landen hebben hier hun ambassade of consulaat.
Jericho (13)
Jericho is een Palestijnse stad op de Westelijke Jordaanoever en een van de oudste levende steden ter wereld en de stad met de oudst bekende beschermende muur ter wereld. Het dateert mogelijk uit het jaar 9000 voor Christus.
Haifa (8)
Haifa is een noordelijke Israëlische haven. Toeristen willen misschien de aangelegde terrassen van de Baha'i-tuinen bezoeken.
Dead Sea (6)
De dode zee is het laagste landpunt op aarde. Het water is extreem zout, er leeft hier niets en drijven is het gemakkelijkste om te doen.
