Laos is een heel relaxed land. Vientiane, de hoofdstad, heeft heel weinig vliegtuigen op de luchthaven en waarschijnlijk nooit een file. Vang Vieng en Luang Prabang zijn de plaatsen waar de meeste toeristen terechtkomen. Met wat “geluk” vindt je hier vreemde drankjes, met slangen en schorpioenen nog in de vles.

Luang Prabang (38)
Luang Prabang is een aangename stad aan de Mekong-rivier, met gebouwen in traditionele Laos-stijl (Unesco-erfgoed). Er zijn bootverbindingen stroomopwaarts naar Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Vientiane (32)
Vientiane is de hoofdstad van Laos, de meest bevolkte stad en de locatie van de regering, president en enkele tempels. Het is ERG ontspannend, zeker voor een hoofdstad. Geen files of rijen overal.
Vang Vieng (31)
Vang Vieng was vroeger de stad waar veel westerlingen (vooral jongeren) kwamen feesten, maar na een paar dodelijke ongelukken zijn de ‘slechte’ feesten er niet meer. Er zijn nog steeds veel restaurants en toeristenwinkels... De rivier nodigt nog steeds uit om te kanoën en het is leuk om een scooter te huren en de omgeving te ontdekken. Iets bijzonders hier is ballonvaren.
