Zuid-AfrikaZuid-Afrika is om vele redenen een ongewoon land. Het is een groot land met verschillende groepen mensen waar 100 talen worden gesproken. Jarenlang heerste de kleine minderheid van blanken over het land, bezat het land en sprak hun eigen taal: Afrikaans (vergelijkbaar met Nederlands). Deze variëteit verklaart de vlag, een regenboog die iedereen vertegenwoordigt. Zuid-Afrika is een van de economische grootmachten van Afrika en biedt veel natuur (safari's). Het is rijk vanwege zijn mensen en zijn resources (bijv. Mijnbouw). Gelegen tussen twee oceanen opent veel zee-mogelijkheden zoals het duiken met haaien.

Namib Woestijn (89)
De Namib is een kustwoestijn in zuidelijk Afrika. Er valt zo weinig regen per jaar, dat dit de enige echte woestijn is en echt niet bewoonbaar.
Swakopmund (88)
Swakopmund (en Walvisbaai) is de speeltuin van Namibië, een vakantiebestemming voor zowel toeristen als de lokale bevolking die de hitte van het binnenland wil ontvluchten en een beetje avontuur wil hebben. Swakopmund is vooral bekend vanwege de duinen, waar je vanaf kunt glijden of skiën.
Fish River Canyon (79)
De Fish River Canyon is de op één na grootste natuurlijke kloof ter wereld en de grootste in Afrika. Gelegen in een ruwe, steenachtige vlakte bezaaid met droogtebestendige vetplanten, zoals de kenmerkende pijlkoker of ´kokerboom´, is de kloof een spectaculair natuurverschijnsel.
