Vietnam is een land met een lange kustlijn en veel te zien en te doen. Hoofdstad is Hanoi, na de hereniging van Noord en Zuid in 1975. Lange tijd maakte het Noorden deel uit van China - en was het communistisch. Andere landen zoals Frankrijk hebben ook hun voetafdruk achtergelaten. Tegenwoordig is het een vrij land met mooie landschappen en stranden, interessant eten, zeer vriendelijke mensen, een goede, sterke economie en veel herinneringen aan het verleden.
Over SapaSapa is een rustige maar toeristische plaats in de bergen. Interessante stamdorpen en rijstvelden in de buurt. Je kunt er met de trein komen vanuit Hanoi. Let op de wekelijkse Bachma-markt niet ver van Sapa, waar de lokale bevolking nog steeds hun traditionele jurken draagt.
