About Cyprus
Cyprus is a small island and sovereign country in the far Eastern part of the Mediterranean, just South of Turkey. It is a resource rich island that has been under Egyptian, Persian, Venetian, Greek and Turkish ruling. The island is today split in two parts with an actual border in between: the southern, larger part is called Greek Cyprus. The Northern part is called Turkish Cyprus. The Greek part is part of the European Union, but the Turkish part is not. (Re) Unification may happen, one day.
