Intrepid Travel has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1989. A company that began with two bearded backpackers, a typewriter and a kitchen table now leads 100,000 travellers across the globe each year.

Today, Intrepid runs more than 1,000 itineraries across the globe and employs more than 1,500 staff and leaders (many of whom don’t even have beards). Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan is one of the largest countries in the world, mostly central Asian and Muslim. It consists of a lot of deserts and plains, but also high mountains in the South near its former capital Almaty. Because of its location it has taken a central spot in trading between the East and the West.

Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is located on the ancient Silk Road with cities Tasjkent, beautiful Bukhara and Samarkand. It is really the heart of Asia, with very long travel in each direction to get to an ocean or sea. The large Aral sea has shrunk by 90%... Uzbekistan and Liechtenstein are the only "double land-locked" countries in the world.
