About Suriname
Suriname is a tropical country dominated by rain forests. The people of Suriname are among the most diverse in the world, spanning a multitude of ethnic, religious, and linguistic group: a true melting pot of different people. Once Suriname was a Dutch colony, but it gained independent in 1975. The official language is still Dutch and there is lots of 17th century architecture in the capital Paramaribo.
