• Your cancellation may be bound to fees, depending on the tour duration, when you cancel and how much you have paid.
• The tour operator will have incurred expenses that it may not be able to recover and now has to find someone else to travel in your place.
• Some operators allow you to re-schedule without a fine.
• We always recommend obtaining a travel insurance that covers cancellations and medical expenses.

Most people travel in the high season, when the schools are closed and the temperatures are the highest. This may make sense for beach vacations with children. But remember that these periods (July and August in Europe + N-America) are by far the busiest. There will be crowds everywhere.

• The hottest season has become even hotter and dryer in the past few years due to climate change, sometimes resulting in droughts and forest fires.
• Sometimes temperatures have become unbearable. In extreme cases attractions may close during the hottest times of the day.
• Due to low water levels some river cruises may not be able to go everywhere. This may lead to cancellations and itinerary changes.
• For the above reasons we highly recommend to travel in the shoulder season, just before or after the high season. Fewer people travel, temperatures are still nice, accommodations are cheaper and there are no problems with heat or drought. This is the best time to travel!
