Train tours
Travel by train and other public transportation
Train tours are comfortable and clean ways to travel short and long distance, especially in Europe and Asia. There is space for luggage and moving around with easy viewing of the landscape. Trains usually stop in city centres unlike airplanes.
Highspeed rail, with speed sometimes exceeding 300kms per hour, is especially noticeable in countries like Germany, France, Spain, China and Japan.

When is the best time to travel?
Most people travel in the high season, when the schools are closed and the temperatures are the highest. This may make sense for beach vacations with children. But remember that these periods (July and August in Europe + N-America) are by far the busiest. There will be crowds everywhere.
- The hottest season has become even hotter and dryer in the past few years due to climate change, sometimes resulting in droughts and forest fires.
- Sometimes temperatures have become unbearable. In extreme cases attractions may close during the hottest times of the day.
- Due to low water levels some river cruises may not be able to go everywhere. This may lead to cancellations and itinerary changes.
- For the above reasons we highly recommend to travel in the shoulder season, just before or after the high season. Fewer people travel, temperatures are still nice, accommodations are cheaper and there are no problems with heat or drought. This is the best time to travel!
