Athens is the capital of Greece. The city center is dominated by the Acropolis, temple ruins from the 5th century.

Santorini is probably the most famous island in the southern Aegean Sea and is the remnant of a volcanic caldera. It is very picturesque and very well-visited by tourists.

Delphi is known for the Oracle in ancient times who gave advice.

The Meteora is a rock formation in central Greece hosting one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries. Kalambaka is the city.

Mykonos is also called The island of the Winds. This may explain the presence of windmills. It is also a busy party island.

Olympia is known for having been the site of the Olympic Games in classical times. They were held every four years from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD.

Crete (Kreta or Kriti) is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands. Capital is Heraklion.
