Samarqand is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Central Asia. It's location made it an important stop on the Silk Road between China and the Mediterranean which made Samarkand one of the greatest cities of Central Asia.

Khiva is another interesting city in the West of Uzbekistan. Itchan Kala in Khiva was the first site in Uzbekistan to be inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List (1991).

Tashkent is the capital city of Uzbekistan. It’s known for its many museums and its mix of modern and Soviet-era architecture. Don't forget the metro station with different art in every station (similar to Moscow).
