Australia is the country/continent "down-under". It is completely surrounded by water and - except for the coastal regions - a huge desert (Red Center). Main tourist attractions are the Great Barrier Reef (Cairns), the Great Ocean Road, Ayers Rock (Alice Springs), Sydney and all the magnificent wildlife (in particular birds and reptiles). Melbourne is very sport oriented and Tasmania is proud to have the "best air". Having a BBQ on the beach on Christmas day is normal in Australia, but quite special to most northern visitors.

Cairns is close to the Great Barrier Reef and therewith a center for diving and excursions.

The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef in the world. It is approx. 2300 km long, the size of Germany or New Mexico and can be seen from outer space. A true Wonder of the Natural World.

Christchurch is the largest city on South Island. The city was hit hard by two earthquakes in 2010 and 2011 (magnitude 7.1 and 6.3) that killed 185 people. The damage is still very visible in the city center where real ruins and abandoned buildings are now neighbouring brand new offices and restaurants.
