Cairo is the capital of Egypt and one of the largest city in Africa. It is close to the Great Pyramids and hosts the world-famous Egyptian Museum and Citadel. The old city is super, the traffic is horrible.
Luxor is the city where the former kings and pharaohs of Egypt have been buried. Even though he wasn´t an important ruler, Tutankhamen´s beautiful grave was discovered here. Luxor is also the location of the Karnak temple with tall pillars.
Gizeh (Giza) is the home of the world-famous ancient Egyptian pyramids. Aged at about 2600 BC they are with the oldest buildings on the planet - though not the oldest in Egypt... It is possible to go inside and discover more mysteries. Recently the magnificent Egyptian museum opened doors next door to the pyramids.
Abu Simbel is a restored, artificial hill with magnificent sculptures by Ramses II as saved by Unesco for the lake of a nearby hydro-dam.
Saqqara is the location of ancient burial grounds of Egyptian royalty. It contains numerous pyramids, including the Step pyramid of Djoser.
Hurghada is a beach resort along Egypt's Red Sea with excellent scuba diving.
Sharm el-Sheikh is a holiday resort and was a significant centre for tourism in Egypt. It is known for excellent snorkeling and diving.
