Summary
The Caucasus are an area of the world that are just coming to the attention of western travellers. We have been travelling through Georgia and Azerbaijan now for over 20 years, but Armenia is new for 2020 and it's the perfect addition as it complements Georgia so well. Indeed their mutual history is inextricably linked together and the culture, architecture, and the religion need to be seen together. Azerbaijan is a very different nation, but equally interesting. A deeply secular state fuelled by a oil driven economy, with a wonderfully modern and interesting capital city of Baku. But throughout the three countries, the sinews of Imperial and Soviet Russia still are very apparent and bind the three countries together.
