Northern lights tour
The Northern lights, dancing in the night sky, are fascinating and highly memorable
The northern lights (aurora borealis) and southern lights (aurora australis) are natural, magical fenomena caused by solar winds in the earths magnetosphere that occur year-round but are only visible when it is dark and the skies are clear, without clouds. The best time of year to see these green waves is winter. The best place is rural, outside any city, large or small, either close to the Arctic or the Antarctic. No guarantees.

When is the best time to travel?
Most people travel in the high season, when the schools are closed and the temperatures are the highest. This may make sense for beach vacations with children. But remember that these periods (July and August in Europe + N-America) are by far the busiest. There will be crowds everywhere.
- The hottest season has become even hotter and dryer in the past few years due to climate change, sometimes resulting in droughts and forest fires.
- Sometimes temperatures have become unbearable. In extreme cases attractions may close during the hottest times of the day.
- Due to low water levels some river cruises may not be able to go everywhere. This may lead to cancellations and itinerary changes.
- For the above reasons we highly recommend to travel in the shoulder season, just before or after the high season. Fewer people travel, temperatures are still nice, accommodations are cheaper and there are no problems with heat or drought. This is the best time to travel!
