Australia is the country/continent "down-under". It is completely surrounded by water and - except for the coastal regions - a huge desert (Red Center). Main tourist attractions are the Great Barrier Reef (Cairns), the Great Ocean Road, Ayers Rock (Alice Springs), Sydney and all the magnificent wildlife (in particular birds and reptiles). Fraser island, in QLD, is considered to be the largest sand island in the world at 1,840 km2. It has rainforests, eucalyptus woodland, mangrove forests, swamps, sand dunes and coastal heaths.
