Old Guatemala is a nice, colonial city amidst several active and inactive volcanos. Several tourists settled here and opened little shops and restaurants. Highly recommended. If you like to learn Spanish, this is certainly one of the better options with a wide variety of schools. 4-6 hours per day for a month with overnight stay at a local family and you are ready to discover Latin America.

Tikal (7)

Tikal if famous for ruins of an ancient Maya city found in a rainforest in Northern Guatemala. It is one of the largest archeological sites and urban centers of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization.

Lake Atitlan (6)

Lake Atitlán is a lake in the Guatemalan Highlands of the Sierra Madre mountain range, with two volcanos, and the deepest lake in Central America. Panajachel is the pleasant city where most tourists will stay and do shopping.

Chichicastenango (4)

Chichicastenango is best known for its colorful market, where local vendors in typical traditional Guatemalan clothing sell all kinds of everything.

Guatemala City is the capital of Guatemala and largest city in central America.
