Bicycle Tours
Active vacation where you ride a bike almost every day
Bicycles are the perfect way to get around cities, nature trails and rural areas. They let you cover more distance than on foot, while still giving you time to look around, talk and see things the easy way. On Bicycle tours the tour operator usually provides and maintains the bicycle, plus takes care of your luggage in between accommodations. Distances of around 50km per day are normal, with days off.

Who are these tour operators? Can I trust them?
We have validated all listed local and international tour operators. Many of them are leading, renowned travel organisations that have been in the business for 20, 30, 50 or more years.
- We checked reviews by travellers and only work with partners where experiences have been mainly positive. We included a link to reviews on the operator details page.
- All tour operators are member of one or more booking guarantee funds, what should guarantee your payment in the highly unlikely case that the tour operator closes business.
- We list memberships and associations per operator.
- Bookings and arrangements are always made with the operator directly. ToursOnTheWeb is not involved in this process. You could make a brief check, that the credentials are still valid at time of booking.

When is the best time to travel?
Most people travel in the high season, when the schools are closed and the temperatures are the highest. This may make sense for beach vacations with children. But remember that these periods (July and August in Europe + N-America) are by far the busiest. There will be crowds everywhere.
- The hottest season has become even hotter and dryer in the past few years due to climate change, sometimes resulting in droughts and forest fires.
- Sometimes temperatures have become unbearable. In extreme cases attractions may close during the hottest times of the day.
- Due to low water levels some river cruises may not be able to go everywhere. This may lead to cancellations and itinerary changes.
- For the above reasons we highly recommend to travel in the shoulder season, just before or after the high season. Fewer people travel, temperatures are still nice, accommodations are cheaper and there are no problems with heat or drought. This is the best time to travel!
